The working principle of a distribution cabinet is to receive, distribute, control, and protect electrical energy through the coordinated operation of its internal electrical components. It acts like a "power manager," ensuring the safe and orderly delivery of current to various electrical devices.

In simple terms, the workflow of a distribution cabinet is as follows:

Power Input:Electrical energy from a transformer or upstream power source is connected to the distribution cabinet through incoming switches (such as disconnect switches or circuit breakers).

Power Distribution: The main busbar conducts electrical energy to each outgoing circuit. Each circuit is equipped with independent switching equipment (such as air switches or residual current devices), supplying power to different areas or equipment as needed.

Control and Monitoring: The circuit on/off is controlled manually or automatically by operating switches; simultaneously, instruments and sensors monitor parameters such as voltage, current, and power in real time to ensure stable operation.

Fault Protection: When overload, short circuit, leakage current, or abnormal voltage occurs, protective components (such as circuit breakers, fuses, and surge protectors) will quickly activate, cutting off the faulty circuit and preventing the accident from escalating. For example:

An air circuit breaker automatically trips when the current is too high, protecting the circuit from burnout;

A residual current device (RCD) detects leakage current through a zero-sequence current transformer and cuts off the power supply within 0.1 seconds in case of electric shock or equipment leakage;

An automatic transfer switch automatically switches to a backup power supply when the main power supply fails, ensuring uninterrupted power to critical equipment.

Modern intelligent distribution cabinets also integrate remote monitoring, data uploading, and early warning functions, enabling digital management.
